Bad Beat at Carbon is again over 195'000 dollars... and getting bigger still!

Yep, it is hooking. Trying to catch that Bad Beat Jackpot at Carbon Poker.

Here is the explanation how it works:

"As soon as a player has a monster hand cracked, the jackpot will be won, with every active player at the table receiving a portion of the prize money! The player with the losing hand will pick up the biggest percentage, so if you have Quad sevens or better using both hole cards, you should definitely hope to get beaten!"

(Above photo and explanation from Carbon Poker web-page.)

So... let's assume it will be 6 players table and Bad Beat Jackpot would be 200'000 dollars. Then the amounts would be:

- 35% to "Loser" = 70'000 dollars
- 17,5% to Winner = 35'000 dollars
- and rest of the 4 (active, not sitting out) players would each get 8'750 dollars

Quite nice amounts could be won in small tables. The smallest Bad Beat tables there are 9 players "Bad Beat Rue St Catherine" and 6 players "Bad Beat Pueblo de Taos", both of them are $0.50/$1 tables. Not bad for a big Bad Beat Jackpot.

Carbon Poker finally available on MAC!

As the title says: Carbon Poker is now available on Mac! This is absolutely fantastic news for us Mac-users!

Personally I have been waiting this for at least two years. The easiest and the worst players on internet... but whenever I have played there, I had to open up and restart my old PC. That have sucked big time. Seriously.

But no more! Now I can use my iMac 24 inches screen with poker experience (read: "easy money") like no other. I simply love it. Highly recommend!

8 and 10 = The New Black

8 and 10 (aka 8T) has been my all-time most profitable hand ever. By far.

Some years ago I had the feeling I was the only one playing big pots with them, but now the things have changed. I get regularly opponents who play 8 and 10 against me, or against someone else in the table. This is no surprise. 8 and 10 is still fantastic hand. Beware of it!

There are two obvious reasons why 8T-hand works:

1) You know instantly from the flop where you stand with it.  You know exactly if you should fold or continue. You fold, if there isn't a chance to pull straight, fullhouse or at least two pairs. With one pair 8T is rubbish. You can't win with one pair with 8T, so fold it. You need two pairs minimum, which still is quite weak, better to have that straight. In fact straight is the best option, because that is so difficult to read, in where possibility to fullhouse at the table get every opponent suspicious.

2) As much as it is easy for you to know, if your 8T works or not, it is double more difficult for opponent to read you got it. And this fact makes 8T very profitable hand! For example: the board is J9742. Your opponent has JJ and "the best" hand in his/her mind. Before the flop he raised five times big blind... so the hands he assume can call are AK, AA, KK, QQ etc... basically pocket pairs or AK, suited JT or other suited connectors. With that board J9742 he is a strong winner with his set of J's, he doesn't have to be afraid of higher pocket pairs, or naturally smaller sets either. In fact he hopes to get all in! And yes, he will get that possibility to go all in, except with huge surprise when you take the whole pot with straight J(T)9(8)7.

That is the magic of 8T. It really works and can win huge pots for you!

As I said in the beginning, beware of it. More and more players are playing with it... it is the new black in poker-tables live and online. So, if someone raises to all in, on the table that doesn't make any sense at first sight, maybe it does make a lot of sense, if you suspect he got 8T in his hand.

The video that have influenced poker-world on the internet the most.

This video had a huge impact to internet poker players! I haven't ever seen anything affecting to various different players playing-style so much than this Daniel Negreanu's video.

This video is MUST to every poker player to watch! Very important!

Why? Because so many poker player have seen it, so you better know A) what they think and B) why they do what they do and C) what they might have and D) what they are after... etc.

I remember very clearly when this video came out. It didn't affect to my own playing-style, because this style introduced here in this Daniel Negreanu's video is one of the styles I do play often, but the others... I couldn't believe my own eyes! All of a sudden in every table there was 3-5 players doing what Negreanu here teach! It was unbelievable!

And I surely did see that impact very well. I had played many months with same players (for example, there is always some same people playing every day in same level Sit & Go -tourneys), and I knew exactly how they play: for example one player been VERY solid and tight playing only pocket pairs or AK and other strong hands. I had good notes for these players, and they used to stick into their own style 100%. You could easily tell: "Oh, he have pocket pair. Oh, he hit the set in flop." Those kind of players.

Then this video came. All of a sudden "everyone" started to play loose. Started to play "small ball", because Daniel told it makes THAT important difference between advanced player and pro. And who wouldn't want to be pro rather than advanced player? Therefore, playing "small ball" and the tactics this video teach spread like forest fire! All of sudden, I had to throw my notes away. (Well not totally, but reconsider them again.) I also had to readjust my own style of playing... it doesn't work, if whole table plays the same way, basic rules of poker. (When possible, try to play different style than the others in table! For example, if your table is loose then play tight. And if your table is tight play loose and steal lot's of blinds & pots.)

I still say one more time: THIS VIDEO is the MUST to watch! You have to know this style of playing! Even if you don't do it personally, you have to know this style so you can spot the players who will play like this, so that you are aware what you should do when you are against them. This is very important, because this style "playing small ball" is more popular every day.

Now the question: Will it be good to go back to play tight again, because so many players want be pros (or like Daniel Negreanu) and play loose "small ball"? What do you think?
